Your consultation will be with German born Margot O'Donoghue Bsc, MA, educated in Essen, Middlesex University and CFAR trained in the Lacanian tradition, often thought of as the deepest and most challenging of psychological schools. Margot has lived in North London for most of her adult life. Her experience includes counselling life prisoners in Holloway Prison as well as assisting victims of Nazi death camps. Her clients today often come from highly pressured positions in the City and the media.

Anxiety
Anxiety effects all of us at some time or other but in extreme cases it can be an intolerable burden, sometimes occurring in conjunction with mood swings, often linked to deteriorating personal relationships or fears concerning health or lifestyle issues.

Those suffering from anxiety attacks can show a lack of interest in what was once important to them, they can withdraw from society, lacking confidence, often becoming depressed along with an inability to concentrate.

While clients often recognise their state of anxiety, they are usually unclear as to its cause. This is where a professional can assist in helping to guide the client through their personal history and get to the route of their anxiety, which in many cases can be founded on long held beliefs, often going back as far as early childhood.

Physical symptoms include hot flushes, chest pain, sudden tiredness, headaches, shortness of breath, problems digesting and nausea. Emotional symptoms include a need to avoid stressful or social situations due to fear of embarrassment. There may be considerable confusion and irritability when the anxiety is taking place.

Panic attacks usually come without warning and although the fear is generally irrational, the perceived danger is very real. A person experiencing a panic attack will often feel as if he or she is about to die or pass out.
