This will be in a bright modern setting with German born Margot O'Donoghue Bsc, MA, educated in Essen, Middlesex University and CIFA in the Lacanian tradition, often thought of as the deepest and most challenging of psychological schools. Margot has lived in North London for most of her adult life. Her experience includes counselling life prisoners in Holloway Prison and her clients today often come from highly pressured postions in the City and the media.

These chemicals trigger our reactions say by causing feelings of fear making us defensive in dangerous situations and relaxed in moments of safety. When these chemical reactions occur correctly they protect and enhance our lives, but when they are released for no apparent reason they can trigger depression. Of course these neurotransmitters are never released for no reason, the key is to stop them being released for the wrong reason, for example in relation to events that happened in childhood and that are not actually beneficial to our current state but are instead a negative influence.

There are medications, which can adjust the chemical imbalance, however they should be a last resort. Understanding our history and present situation we feel is the right way to counter depression and banish it as much as possible from our lives.

The Answer to Depression
Talking about our problems is a major source of therapy. A well balanced life with plenty of exercise, eating well, avoiding stressful situations and other commonsense approaches to altering our lifestyle can make a huge difference. Depression will not just go away like a common cold but facing up to difficult issues over a period of time the effects of depression can be dramatically reduced and, for the most part, even eradicated.
