This will be in a bright modern setting with German born Margot O'Donoghue Bsc, MA, educated in Essen, Middlesex University and CIFA in the Lacanian tradition, often thought of as the deepest and most challenging of psychological schools. Margot has lived in North London for most of her adult life. Her experience includes counselling life prisoners in Holloway Prison and her clients today often come from highly pressured postions in the City and the media.

Nonparaphilic CSB
Conventional sexual behaviors, which are obsessive and compulsive that interfere with normal life:
1 An endless demand for new sexual partners to use as sex objects.
2 An compulsive fixation with an individual who is unobtainable like a celebrity, maybe leading to stalking.
3 A compulsive fixation with masturbation.
4 A fixation with sex in a relationship.
5 An addiction or fixation with sex in general.

What is normal sexual behaviour?
Clearly the definition of what is normal can differ from one individual to another and one professional to another. There is serious discussion as to how to assess obsessive sexual behaviour, which by the very nature of the sex drive can vary in any individual over a lifetime. As society changes so do views on what is acceptable sexual behaviour.

Treatment
Understanding the root of the problem usually goes a long way to resolving issues.

Compulsive sexual behaviour
The problem is that most people find certain aspects of sexual deviancy erotically stimulating hence the popularity of pornography, making the borderline blurred. It is when sexual fantasy gives way to enactment that the problems begin. However there is considerable disagreement in the profession as to what is normal sexual behaviour and a therefore a lack of consensus as to treatment. Again the first step and biggest step for an individual is to recognise they have a problem and that their desires and behaviour are not the norm. Maybe they are happy with their state of mind and it is their partner that forces them to take note of their behaviour.

Generally compulsive sexual behaviour divides into two types: paraphilic and non-paraphilic.

Paraphilic CSB
Unconventional sexual behaviors to gain arousal by thought or deed which are obsessive and compulsive:
1 Sadism (administering pain)
2 Masochism (receiving administration of pain)
3 Transvestism (dressing as opposite sex)
4 Voyeurism (watching an unsuspecting person) 5 Exhibitionism (exposing one's genitals in public)
6 Frotteurism (touching an unsuspecting person)
7 Paedophilia (a sexual interest in children))
